2 Book post...

...read 'Revenge of the Sith' again. Still rox, but Anakin is easily swayed...Retard.

Then 'The Legend of Huma' by Richard A Knaak. :) :) :) A good story. I like Dragonlance books. This one is better than a lot of the others.

Now I'm reading 'The Rainmaker' by John Grisham. Again. For at least the 7th time. I love that book.

Apollo 13...

...or formerly 'Lost Moon' by Jim Lovell.

This book rocks! Since 'Apollo 13' is one of my favorite movies, this book was a must-read for me. It helps tell the backstory of how NASA, their engineers and astronauts helped make the flight a 'sucessful failure'.

Another one down...

...this time it's 'The Silmarillion' by J.R.R. Tolkien. :D :D :D :D + 0.5 GMoE

Full smileys for the tale of the Silmarils. I took off the last 0.50 because of all the names that are hard to follow. Nothing like having 2or 3 names for the same person: Sauron/Gorthaur, Melkor/Morgoth Bauglir, Eru/Iluvatar etc... Great stories though.

Next...

...is 'The Runaway Jury' by John Grisham. :) :) +0.5 GMoE -not very engaging, but interesting so far as a person is able to influence a jury.

'The Hunt For Red October' by Tom Clancy. :) :) :) :) GMoE -I like the earlier Tom Clancy books, and I still like this one. Lots of technical details, and a complex interweaving of plots. Very interesting.

Again I have been slacking...

Let's see if I can get current. And these are in no particular reading order.

The first 2 books of the Harperhall trilogy by Anne McCaffrey, Dragonsong :) :) :) and Dragonsinger :) :) :) GMoE, respectively. Ignorant people suck. That's all I'll say about those books.

I re-read Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton again. :) :) :) +0.5 GMoE. I like the technical details of his books, but I think I like Hammond in the movie better than the jerk he was in the book. And I still think the line "a deplorable excess of personality" is the best line.

Episode 2: Attack of the Clones

by R.A. Salvatore :) :) :) GMoE I didn't like it very much, but it does help tell the story.

2 more books...

Path of Destruction by Drew Karpshyn :) :) :) :) +0.5 GMoE This is the story of the Sith Lord Darth Bane, and how the Sith order went from thousands of followers to only 2. I liked it a lot.

Fire of the Covenant by Gerald Lund :) :) :) GMoE This is a story about the Martin and Willie handcart companies, and their trials on the trail to Utah.

The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown...

I forgot to put this with the last post. I give it :) :) :) +.5 GMoE.

I know I've been slacking...

OK, here's what I have read so far, at least as I remember:

I finished the Dune series, which ends with Chapterhouse: Dune by Frank Herbert . :) :) :) GMoE

Val and I read the first 3 books of the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey. I liked them quite a lot. I especially liked the third book "The White Dragon".
:) :) :) :) GMoE

I re-read Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover. I really like that book... :D :D :D :D :D (!! full smileys !!) GMoE

Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader by James Luceno. :) :) :) :) GMoE

Star Wars: Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno. :) :) :) :) GMoE

Growing Up King by Dexter Scott King(a semi-biography of Martin Luther King) :) :) GMoE

I decided I would stop doing book reports on the things I read. It's really hard to do a synopsis on a book when I'm at work, so I decided to use the Goo Meter of Enjoyability(GMoE) to rate my like/dislike of what I read. I think I'll use smileys [ :) ] as my measuring device. All ratings are out of 5 possible smileys.

By the way, I REALLY like the story of what happened before, during and after Episode 3. Despite the poor acting (I feel) of Ep.3, the story is really quite good. Anakin's plummet to the dark side makes a WHOLE LOT more sense after reading the book. Of course, maybe it already made sense to you without the book, and I'm just slow on the uptake.

Again a reminder, Jordan's Booknook does not have Internet links unless specifically stated. Thank you.
